Day Seven
SITE MAP AND RIDE ROUTE LENGTH - 237 miles or 381 Kilometers
Pull Over Info
The roads are fun and the scenery is great but there are not many stops along this part of the tour.  As we enter Interstate 90, the only time we are actually on an US interstate highway, you will note that even the “slab” can be beautiful when it is located in the right area.  This is a very relaxing route and day ride.
Montana Lodging
Hotel Info
Butte, MT is one of many eclectic cities or towns that dot the Montana landscape. Located halfway between Glacier National Park and Yellowstone National Park the town offers a lot of history.  Our stay this evening will be at the War Bonnet Hotel.  This might be a good place to do your laundry, wash the bike, and just take it easy.
Enjoying the Ride
The next morning we strike out on day seven of the ride.  After an enjoyable evening soaking up the local culture of Red Lodge, we proceed north on a relaxed ride through the rural countryside where we eventually join a beautiful section of Interstate Highway 90 for a stunning ride through the mountain plains of southern Montana.  After a day of beautiful scenery, we arrive in Butte, Montana, where we will spend the evening.

In its heyday, between the late 19th century and about 1920, Butte was one of the largest and most notorious copper boomtowns in the American West, home to hundreds of saloons and a famous red-light district.  For more than a century, copper was king in Butte, Montana and this city became one of the world's most important sources for this strategic metal.  In the process, the wealth generated by mining and refining earned the small town the honor of becoming one of the most prosperous cities in the country, especially during World War 1, and was often called "the Richest Hill on Earth".  For many reasons unrelated to mining, Butte, Montana remains the Richest Hill on Earth.
